If you listen to Moncton’s 91.9 “the Bend Breakfast” with Josh and Jenn, then maybe you caught the interview with our very own Owen MacNeil. He paid a visit to the radio station to raise awareness about an upcoming event hosted by Brokering Wishes.
On Thursday, May 2, 2019, Brokering Wishes will be hosting their 3rd annual Wine & Wishes event at the TriStar Mercedes-Benz showroom in Moncton, NB. The goal of this evening is to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. This event started out as a simple pub night but has evolved into an evening of glamour and social fun to raise awareness and funds for the Wish children.
What can ticket holders expect?
MacNeil calls Wine & Wishes a “casual red carpet event”. You will start the evening with valet parking in the Service Bay before being greeted with a complimentary glass of champagne. With refreshments in hand, you will have the opportunity to walk the red carpet and have your photo taken in front of the Mercedes-Benz logo. Upon entering the reception area, you will enjoy an evening of live music, live painting by Katie Doiron, a silent auction and a live auction full of unique items and experiences to bid on. Every penny raised will go towards the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
When asked what the goals of the evening were, MacNeil replied, “For the Moncton area here, we set a goal of $25,000 and based on our sell-out crowd, and the auction items we have, we believe we will meet that or surpass it and collectively in Atlantic Canada will be up over $80,000”.
An event like this takes much more than a single person to pull off. “We’ve got over eleven people on our committee,” MacNeil informs the radio hosts, “and it’s 100% volunteer…and every single penny that’s generated goes back to the Make-A-Wish children.” So many volunteers are committed to the Brokering Wishes event and to the children it benefits.
Another question from the radio hosts, what is Brokering Wishes? “Brokering Wishes is a group of mortgage brokers active throughout Atlantic Canada,” MacNeil proudly explains, “…we do various events throughout the year, this being our primary key event.”
Although Wine & Wishes 2019 has been sold out for a few weeks now, you can still help the event and the Make-A-Wish children by donating auction items or cash. If you’d like to get a ticket to next year’s event, MacNeil encourages everyone to “act fast”, as tickets go quicker each year.
